BACHOK, May 25 (Bernama) -- A total of 25 extraordinary teachers nationwide were selected as recipients of McDonald's ‘Anugerah Guru Inspirasi 2022’ today in conjunction with the National Teachers' Day celebration in recognition of their outstanding achievements and services in shaping the future of the country through education.

McDonald's Malaysia vice-president and chief marketing officer Melati Abdul Hai said each teacher was unique in terms of how they went out of their way to educate students.

“Although the country is currently hit by the COVID-19 outbreak, it has not stopped McDonald’s from hosting the awards for the sixth time since 2017, in recognition of the services and sacrifices of teachers.

"More than 5,600 nominations were received from March 10 to April 2, where several aspects were assessed by the jury, such as their (teachers’) own efforts and initiatives when teaching students," she told reporters when met at the awards ceremony at Universiti Malaysia Kelantan (UMK), here today.

The awards were presented by Senior Education Minister Datuk Dr Radzi Jidin.

Commenting further, Melati said each of the 25 winners received RM5,000 cash along with a trophy and certificate of recognition in conjunction with the Teacher's Day celebration this year, while the nominees received a McDonald's voucher worth RM200 as a token of appreciation.
