IPOH, Aug 2 -- Owners of buildings and premises in Perak are encouraged to fly the Jalur Gemilang flag to show their patriotic spirit and love for the country.
State Housing, Local Government and Tourism Committee chairman Datuk Nolee Ashilin Mohammed Radzi said every residential area and premises should install the Jalur Gemilang throughout the national month as a show of gratitude for the peace and harmony that the country enjoys, especially now, when Malaysia is still fighting the COVID-19 pandemic.
“We don’t need a big Jalur Gemilang flag, the mini flags should suffice. We understand that there are those among the community who are not aware of the national month celebration, so they have not started hoisting and flying the Jalur Gemilang yet.
“I hope the non-governmental organisations (NGO) will work together with the state government in campaigning to get the community to fly the Jalur Gemilang at their houses and premises,” she told reporters after launching the Fly the Jalur Gemilang programme at Kinta Heights flat here, today.
Also present were Ipoh mayor Datuk Rumaizi Baharin and some 350 local residents who took part in flying the Jalur Gemilang at their respective houses.
