KUCHING, July 30 -- Effective Aug 1, only petrol stations and factories in Kuching, Samarahan and Serian under Zone 1 which are categorised as Covid-19 yellow and red zones are allowed to operate as usual.
In announcing this, the State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) chairman Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas said, however, petrol station and factory operators who operate as usual were required to inform the SDMC.
“The operation hours for other businesses will be limited from 6 am to 10 am,” said Uggah, who is also one of Sarawak’s Deputy Chief Ministers, in the committee's daily briefing at the old Sarawak State Legislative Assembly building here, today.
Apart from that, he said, SDMC has also decided that all citizens from the Peninsular, Sabah and Labuan who enter Sarawak will have to wear a wristband before being allowed to return to their homes.
However, they must get their sample taken for COVID-19 test at the nearest Health Clinic on the first or second day of their return.
“For those whose final destination is in the remote areas outside Kuching, Sibu, Bintulu and Miri, they will be quarantined and their sample will be taken on the second day.
“If the test result comes out negative, then only will they be allowed to go home without having to continue the quarantine,” Uggah said.
No new COVID-19 cases were recorded in Sarawak today. The positive cases stand at 677 with 19 deaths.
