JOHOR BAHRU, Jan 7 (Bernama) -- The National Information Dissemination Centre (NADI) is conducting security assessments at affected centres following a series of break-ins and thefts that occurred in Johor last year.
The Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC), in a statement today, said they include improvements to access control, strengthened physical surveillance and the implementation of more targeted security awareness programmes at the community level.
According to the statement, the measures are aimed at reducing the risk of recurring incidents, enhancing staff preparedness and strengthening the role of local communities in crime prevention efforts.
MCMC said that between September and December 2025, a total of 13 break-ins involving NADI were recorded in Johor, resulting in the loss of cash and damage to assets.
The incidents, it said, not only compromised the security of public facilities but also affected the continuity of NADI’s daily operations and the delivery of services to local communities.
Meanwhile, MCMC also expressed its appreciation to the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM), particularly the Johor Contingent Crime Prevention and Community Safety Department (JPJKK) and the Pontian Police headquarters, for their swift action in arresting suspects believed to be involved in the break-ins and thefts.
“The arrest of the suspects was the result of effective operational coordination and information-sharing between the Johor Police Contingent, particularly Johor JPJKK and the Pontian Police headquarters, together with MCMC and NADI management.
“This integrated action enabled investigations to be conducted promptly and helped identify a pattern of recurring break-ins at several NADI locations in Johor, thereby curbing the ongoing risk to the security of public facilities and community service operations,” the statement said.
