KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 3 -- A total of RM208,200 under the Bantuan Prihatin Nasional (BPN) was channelled to the Sabah Commercial Vehicle Licensing Board (LPKP) on Nov 30 to be distributed to 357 school bus drivers in the state.

Deputy Transport Minister Hasbi Habibollah said some 347 applications have been received by the Sabah LPKP for the aid which was opened for applications on Aug 5.

He said all the applications have also been approved and the allocation would be distributed to eligible recipients.

“Based on the list of 69 drivers submitted by Yang Berhormat, 41 of them are included as the eligible recipients, while the remaining 28 drivers are not in the list as Sabah LPKP does not have their records,” he said at the Special Chamber session in the Dewan Rakyat today.

He said this in response to a motion brought forward by Chan Foong Hin (PH-Kota Kinabalu) on the RM600 special assistance for school bus drivers in Sabah.

On the delay in the aid payment, Hasbi said it was contributed by several factors including incomplete or inaccurate information as well as incomplete applications.

He said following that, the Sabah LPKP needed to contact the applicants to complete the required information and verify it.

“This is to avoid overlapping applications and prevent unlicensed applicants from receiving this assistance as applications are carried out manually and online.

“After submitting their application via Google Form, applicants are required to verify their licence with the data from the Sabah LPKP manually,” he added.
