KUANTAN, Sept 20 (Bernama) -- The wellbeing of the people will be the Work Ministry’s priority in its application for allocation under the 2019 Budget which is expected to be tabled in Parliament in November.
Deputy Minister Mohd Anuar Mohd Tahir said this means that non-urgent mega projects would be set aside to make way to infrastructural projects that would really benefit the people.
“There are some places that need traffic lights, better and wider roads or even a flyover is due to severe traffic congestion or may be because it’s an accident-prone location.
“Instead of spending billions of ringgit on non-urgent mega projects, why don’t we spend the same amount to implement people’s projects to reduce risks of road accidents?” he told a press conference after visiting the district here today.
Mohd Anuar said apart from infrastructural projects, priority would also be given to the upgrading of dilapidated schools in rural areas, as well as hospitals, for the comfort and convenience of the people.
The deputy minister also gave assurance that the government would not marginalise Barisan Nasional-led Pahang and Perlis in the implementation of the projects.
