KUALA LUMPUR, May 13 (Bernama) -- Integrated logistics provider Teleport aims to acquire an additional seven freighters to accommodate its target of delivering two million parcels daily by 2025, to be on par with other global express players.

Teleport currently owns three narrow-body Airbus A321 freighters that serve its logistic needs, along with a combination of growing AirAsia passenger aircraft belly capacity and over 30 other airline partners.

Its chief executive officer Pete Chareonwongsak said the company vows to make an affordable next-day delivery a reality for all businesses in Southeast Asia with its new target.

The two million parcels daily target is set to be fulfilled by 10 freighters along with AirAsia's network as well as its airline partners.

"We are also operating in Thailand, the Philippines and Vietnam, so we are looking for the right homes for those seven additional freighters in these countries, and it may not be specifically A321 freighters as we have now in Kuala Lumpur," he said during a media briefing today.

According to Chareonwongsak, the company is ready to change the game of how cross-border logistics is delivered in Southeast Asia.

"Delivering fast, affordable and reliable service is hard but we believe our approach can make this a reality.

"This includes controlling the right hybrid belly network, enabled by the right use of technology; the right operating model provides our customers and partners a next-day service in Southeast Asia that everyone can afford," he added.

Pete noted that the company will continue to strengthen its network infrastructure with extensive first-to-last-mile next-day delivery infrastructure and work with more air partners to add more capacity on key high-volume lanes.

"This is our next stage of growth -- affordable, next-day delivery for all in Southeast Asia is the final mission from the day one vision.

"Our next five years will deliver this, and help all businesses with simpler and better service, but also our airline partners will never have to fly empty," he added.
