WORQ EXPANDS CO-WORKING SPACE TO SUNWAY PUTRA MALL

25/03/2024 08:39 PM

KUALA LUMPUR, March 25 (Bernama) -- Co-working and flex space provider WORQ has expanded its co-working space to Sunway Putra Mall, and this eighth outlet has reached a 100 per cent occupancy rate.

Chief executive officer and co-founder Stephanie Ping said this is its seventh outlet in Klang Valley’s intercity transit rail system, as the mall is on the PWTC light rapid transit (LRT) train line.

“The co-working space spanning 20,000 square feet has reached a 100 per cent occupancy rate in the first month after opening in January.

“We are empowering our transit system with productive working communities who, by commuting via the transit lines daily, increase the usage of the public transport system,” she said in her speech during the WORQ Sunway Putra launch event here today.

Among the companies that will be occupying the new space are Neighbour Tech Solutions Sdn Bhd, Equilogics, Kannvas Sdn Bhd, Crown Digital and Rainbowfruits, among others.

Ping said WORQ plans to open a new co-working space at the Intermark in the city centre this July.

The office is connected to the LRT Kelana Jaya Line and MRT 2 Line from Kwasa Damansara to Putrajaya.

Currently, WORQ co-working spaces are in Bangsar, KL Sentral, Bangsar South, Subang, Mutiara Damansara, Taman Tun Dr Ismail and Pulau Perhentian.

Sunway Real Estate Investment Trust chief executive officer Clement Chen said Sunway Malls is committed to upholding sustainable practices and innovation, in line with Malaysia’s vision to be a leader in environmental, social and corporate governance (ESG).

“It is our pleasure to partner with WORQ who not only focus on office commercial operations but also the ESG part of the operations. This would attract tenants who value the same ESG emphasis,” he said.

Meanwhile, Transport Minister Anthony Loke embraced WORQ’s commitment to sustainable development and innovation, particularly in their strategic decision to locate their outlets near train stations.

“By doing so, they are not only encouraging the use of public transportation among office workers but also actively contributing to our nation’s efforts to reduce car dependency and promote a cleaner, more energy-efficient commuting culture.

“This aligns with Malaysia’s commitment to adopting sustainable practices and mitigating the effects of climate change,” he said in his speech before officiating the event.
