AGROBANK PLAYS VITAL ROLE IN HELPING TO STRENGTHEN AGRO-FOOD ECOSYSTEM - ARTHUR
KENINGAU, Feb 17 (Bernama) -- Agrobank plays an important role in helping to strengthen the agro-food ecosystem through various initiatives and services tailored to benefit farmers, breeders, fishermen, and agro-food industry players, said Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Food Security Datuk Arthur Joseph Kurup.
According to him, as a development financial institution, Agrobank bears the responsibility of strengthening the country's food security through its financing activities.
He said that Agrobank offers financing that spans beyond agricultural activities to cover every component within the agricultural value chain in line with the aspirations of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security and the government.
"Agrobank plays a vital role in helping the agro-food ecosystem by providing financing, business support, consulting services, industry networks, and innovation support.
"This helps support the development of the agro-food sector as well as economic growth and the well-being of rural communities," he said in his speech at the launch of the Agrobank 2024 Chinese New Year Celebration Campaign here tonight.
Agrobank chief operating officer Zahid Ahmad Zawawi was in attendance.
Arthur said that Agrobank not only provides financing but also empowers businesses with entrepreneurial skills through the Agrobank Centre of Excellence (ACE), where industry experts impart knowledge in the form of training and technical guidance.
