PETALING JAYA, Jan 15 (Bernama) -- Sunview Group Bhd’s wholly-owned subsidiary, Fabulous Sunview Sdn Bhd, has entered into a strategic business alliance agreement with a few Cambodian companies to establish a solar facility in Cambodia.

The objective of the agreement is mainly to explore business opportunities concerning proposed future projects on renewable energy (RE) and green energy in Cambodia, said Sunview executive director and chief executive officer Ong Hang Ping.

“Sunview would exclusively be responsible for the project’s engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning (EPCC) related tasks,” he told the media after the signing ceremony here today.

The agreement was witnessed by Raja Muda of Perlis Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Jamalullail and Sirage Capital Sdn Bhd director and ASEAN Chamber of Commerce & Industry president Datuk Sohaimi Bin Shahadan.

Cambodian Strategic Business Partner was represented by Governor H.E Cheam Chansophorn.

Fabulous Sunview owns the majority stake in Sirage Energy Sdn Bhd, while Sirage Capital -- owned by the Perlis royalty -- holds the remaining shareholding in the unit.

Earlier, Ong said the substantial power source is intended not only for daily needs but also to catalyse economic development.

“This strategic collaboration empowers us to expand our geographical reach beyond the local market.

“As a result, this synergy is poised to significantly fortify our position in the industry, marking a crucial milestone in our commitment to sustainable energy solutions,” he said.

Ong added that the collaboration represents a shared dedication to advancing sustainable living and it is not solely the responsibility of the government but requires a collective effort from all.

“We are signing a non-disclose agreement with the governor but we are trying to expedite the entire process (to identify potential Cambodian partners and reveal the whereabouts of the solar farm),” he said.

As both parties navigate the path, Ong said the group is optimistic that the collaboration would yield a meaningful outcome, contributing positively to the environment and the communities.

“We position ourselves as a comprehensive provider of solar energy solutions, functioning as a vertical integrator within the solar energy supply chain,” he said, adding that Sunview owns and operates 21 solar photovoltaic (PV) facilities throughout Malaysia.
