KUALA LUMPUR, June 9 (Bernama) -- Eye specialist Optimax Holdings Bhd plans to set up three more satellite clinics by the end of this year, bringing the number to seven, said chief executive officer Sandy Tan.

She also expressed optimism that the company would post a higher profit in the second quarter (2Q) ending June 30, 2023, with the utilisation of the latest cutting-edge technology.

“I think our profit will grow higher in 2Q FY2023, and it is very promising because we have new technology for eye (treatments).

“People want new technologies which benefit them. So when we benefit the public, we will automatically have good revenue,” Tan told reporters on the sidelines of the Malaysia Book of Records (MBR) award ceremony here today.

Optimax bagged the MBR award for the most number of refractive eye treatments provided in Malaysia.

The company’s net profit increased to RM3.05 million in the first quarter ended March 31, 2023, from RM2.59 million a year earlier while revenue improved to RM26.09 million compared with RM23.26 million previously.

According to its results announcement, the higher revenue was mainly due to the increase in the number of patients seeking treatments, as well as the newly set-up satellite clinics and centres.
