KUALA LUMPUR, March 27 (Bernama) -- Cooperative bank  Koperasi Co-opbank Pertama Malaysia Bhd (CBP) today launched the Financial Islamic Reengineering System Transformation (FIRST) project to upgrade its core banking system.

The cooperative bank was established in 1993 under the Cooperative Act 1993, which is jointly regulated by the Malaysia Cooperative Commission (SKM).

Its president Datuk Baharom Embi said the FIRST project provides CBP with the latest banking technology to provide customers with an easy, efficient and safe online banking service experience.

“The three project phases are expected to take two years starting from November 2022 until October 2024 and the first phase will go live on July 1, 2023,” he said at the break of fast ceremony and launch of the FIRST project at the World Trade Centre Kuala Lumpur today.

At the same event, the banking institution's core value programme, known as MYCBP, was also launched.

“MYCBP, an acronym for customer-friendly, confident and committed, efficient, integrity and progressive will become an identity for all CBP employees regardless of rank and position,” Baharom said.

He said the core value is essential to ensure CBP employees have one common competency standard to continue progressively moving forward.
