GEORGE TOWN, March 20 (Bernama) -- Exabytes, Southeast Asia’s leading all-in-one business, cloud, digital and e-Commerce solutions provider aims to assist over 1,000 women entrepreneurs to grow and sustain their businesses by equipping them with a set of digital toolkits worth RM10,000 each.

Exabytes vice-president of business development Ooi Poh Yan said it aimed to highlight every and any obstacles that women entrepreneurs would have to face as well as to discuss collectively how to get over those challenges.

“It goes without saying that with technological advancements, new challenges arise. However, at the same time, innovative conveniences also await those that are resilient enough to master these technologies,”  she told a press conference after announcing the year-long programme ‘Accelerate Women Entrepreneurship with Exabytes (AWEWE) 2023’, which is now open for application until Dec 31, 2023.

Ooi believes the digital toolkit will be able to play a significant role in the growth of women entrepreneurs of this era.

These digital toolkits include a search engine optimisation (SEO) report analysis which would review the businesses’ website and give advice for improvements, give access to AI-powered service that would help generate good quality content for their websites as well as various courses and training in data analytics and marketing.

Based on the positive feedback received from last year's participation, she said, this initiative has helped women entrepreneurs to gain wider business exposure as well as boost their target market at the same time.

She said the slots are available on a first come first serve basis and that women entrepreneurs who are interested could head on to their website for more information.

Also present, Penang Social Development and Non-Islamic Religious Affairs Committee chairman Chong Eng said she hopes Exabytes would continue its efforts in lifting women entrepreneurs.

“This will be Exabytes’ third instalment of the programme and l am pleased that a homegrown company is continuously placing its efforts to help and upskill women entrepreneurs - who are undoubtedly a big contributor to the local economy,” she said.

She added this is in line with the state government’s vision to empower women entrepreneurs.

“Under the Penang 2030 vision, we have a target of seeing 40 per cent female ownership of small and medium enterprises but right now, the number is still small at only 10 per cent,” she noted.

Besides the digital toolkit, Exabytes and its partners would also organise a half-day conference, the AWEWE 2023 Conference in Penang on March 28 and in Kuala Lumpur on March 30 to better help women-owned companies sustain themselves.
