LADA RECOGNISED AS LEADING GOVT TOURISM BOARD OF THE YEAR AT ATH AWARDS

KUALA LUMPUR, March 18 (Bernama) -- The Langkawi Development Authority (LADA) was crowned Leading Government Tourism Board of the Year at the Asian Tourism and Hospitality (ATH) Awards 2022-2023 for its efforts in establishing Langkawi as a renowned world-class tourism destination.

LADA deputy chief executive officer Wan Kamarul Faisal Wan Kamardin said the recognition serves as a great morale boost for the organisation to capitalise on the limitless opportunities aimed at accelerating the growth of tourism in Langkawi. 

“We are extremely pleased to have been granted this prestigious award. To be acknowledged in front of our peers and fellow industry players will serve as a great motivation for us to keep pushing on in order to elevate Langkawi to greater heights.

“We believe we are on the right track in our goal of ensuring Langkawi is established as a top tourist destination in the world,” he said in a statement today. 

He added that LADA will looking forward to the future with numerous opportunities for business and tourism development, such as the Langkawi International Maritime and Aerospace Exhibition (LIMA 2023) set to be held from May 23 to 27.

“The prospects do not end there, as LADA will also be hosting the next edition of Routes Asia 2024 in February next year. Both these events will serve to facilitate conversations between industry players for business development and act as catalysts for economic recovery on the island,” the statement said.

The first edition of the ATH Awards held at Le Méridien here yesterday, organised by TIN Media together with Asia Hospitality Human Resource Association (AHHRA), were to commemorate the spirit of resilience and excellence, acknowledging business innovation and exceptional contributors of the industry.
