KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 2 (Bernama) -- Allianz Malaysia Berhad organised two series of Flood Survival Trainings for Malaysians, Allianz We Care Community members and employees, to be better prepared for floods this year.
Allianz Malaysia in a statement said it was conducted through its corporate social responsibility arm Allianz4Good in collaboration with the Malaysia International Search and Rescue (MISAR).
It said the Flood Survival Training 1.0 was held on Sept 4 for the public, which included lessons on how to escape from a submerged car, pet rescue and handling of persons with disabilities (PWDs) in flood emergency among others.
Meanwhile, the Flood Survival Training 2.0 was conducted on Oct 30 for Allianz We Care Community members and Allianz’s employees where the activities includes emergency escape bag and water proofing, hypothermia blanket exercise and SOS signaling during flood.
Head of Allianz4Good Ng Siew Gek said flood survival training is essential to prepare the public for the monsoon season as flash floods are occurring on larger scales, especially around Klang Valley and the East Coast.
“We believe enabling disaster preparedness is crucial in mitigating the loss of life and damage suffered by flood-prone communities as well as wider society, with floods occurring in greater swathes of residential areas than before,” she said.
According to the statement, Allianz Malaysia also provided financial aid for MISAR’s flood relief operations in Baling, Kedah in early July.
It said between November and December last year, Allianz Malaysia assisted MISAR in various flood relief operations in Kuala Lumpur, Selangor, Pahang and Kelantan by donating and volunteering at MISAR Academy to pack relief items for the flood victims.
