KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 7 (Bernama) -- The government is calling on more entities to contribute to the National Trust Fund (KWAN).

Finance Minister Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Abdul Aziz said Petronas plans to contribute RM2 billion to KWAN in 2023.

KWAN was established to ensure optimum usage of the country’s natural resources and was mandated to generate a continuous source of income for the benefit of the country and future generations.

“The government is committed to replenishing KWAN funds when the health crisis is over, subject to permitting financial position,” he said while presenting Budget 2023 themed “Keluarga Malaysia, Makmur Bersama” (Malaysian Family, Prosperity Together) at the Dewan Rakyat today.

As at Sept 30, 2022, as much as RM5 billion has been spent on the country’s COVID-19 Immunisation Programme, he said, adding that the government has allocated up to RM6 billion for COVID-19 vaccines.
