SERDANG, Oct 3 (Bernama) -- Farm in the City (FITC) is committed to educating Malaysians on the various aspects of farm and animal life as well as wildlife conservation and preservation by encouraging visitor-interaction with the animals and plant-life in a comfortable yet authentic environment.

Its founder Datuk Allan Phoon said, over the last 10 years, FITC has provided hundreds of thousands of Malaysians with an avenue to learn more about the animals and the importance of preserving natural habitats.

“Part of FITC’s mission to impart and educate the public on the habitat, behaviour and geographical distribution of the animals in the global landscape, it continuously promotes wildlife and environmental education through carefully designed programmes for local and overseas students of all ages on themes of conservation and preservation,” he said to BERNAMA at Farm in The City, Seri Kembangan, recently.

He said, FITC is designed to become a focal point for tourism in the state by providing educational and entertaining insight into the lifestyle of a Malaysian village or “kampung”, a farm and fruit orchard with its natural plants and wildlife.

“To start a petting zoo 10 years ago was not an easy task where he had to discover what kind of animals to bring in and the potential harmful effects since the animals react differently to different people in different environments,” he added.

Meanwhile Sales Marketing Manager of (FITC), Jerry Ng Swee Keong said, the farm takes pride in being completely free of cages, allowing all the animals to roam free in special enclosures which mimic as closely as possible their natural surroundings.

“Petting zoo is actually where you can pet animals and something different so we encourage a lot of interactive activities for the children,” he said.

To commemorate the 10th anniversary, FITC will be hosting a three-day fun-filled carnival from Oct 8 to 10, 2022 allowing guests to witness the wildlife through a spectacular animal parade.

Additionally, FITC will also be having a special discount promotion on tickets where adults get to enjoy RM10 off their ticket price while children will be able to gain entry into the enclosure at only RM10 for a limited time only.
