KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 30 (Bernama) -- More than 6,000 female entrepreneurs across Malaysia and Indonesia received mentorship training and vital digital skills to grow their businesses in a programme organised by The Asia Foundation.
Known as the Accelerate My Business, the programme was organised by non-profit development organisation Asia Foundation in collaboration with the Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives Ministry and international companies like AT&T, Visa, and DHL.
The ministry's secretary-general Datuk Suriani Ahmad said women-led micro, small and medium enterprises (MSME) must work together in the digital space to enhance their leadership skills to become active agents of change.
“Women-led MSME will be able to play their role as agents of change. They will be inspired to come up with better solutions to address the socio-economic and environmental challenges that we are facing today,” she said at the Accelerate My Business summit held online today.
The programme is a live, instructor-led virtual training session with industry leaders as speakers. It involves self-paced learning with an open session for additional support and networking.
The participants benefited from a range of topics such as digital marketing, financial management, cyber security, customer experience and logistics.
The Asia Foundation is also working with community partners such as the Sarawak Multimedia Authority and Yayasan Johor Corporation. Its implementating partners are StartupMalaysia and The Centre for Women’s Resource Development in Indonesia.
“The modules and mentorship provided have supported participants to upskill and remain competitive in the digital economy,” the foundation's country representative Dr Robin Bush said.
