OYO MALAYSIA is offering free insurance coverage to all guests who book to stay at any of their hotels nationwide starting today.

In a statement, country head Ming Luk Tan said the insurance is automatically included with every booking made through the OYO app, website or online travel agencies (OTAs).

Underwritten by Chubb, the coverage insures guests for accidental deaths and permanent disabilities, emergency hospitalisation, loss of personal property and baggage, loss of laptop and other benefits for every night they spend at an OYO partner hotel. 



MALAYSIA CONVENTION AND EXHIBITION BUREAU’s Meet in Malaysia@Malaysia Business Events Week (MIM@MBEW) will return in its 7th year from Aug 29 to Sept 1 with the main aim to discuss key issues on reshaping business events.

“With the theme ‘Reshaping Business Events’, some of the important topic that will be featured is about diversity, equity and inclusion, sustainability and United Nations Sustainable Development Goal and talent pool, among others,’’ chief executive officer Datuk Seri Abdul Khani Daud said in a statement today.

To be held at the World Trade Centre (WTC) Kuala Lumpur, the event is expected to bring more than 700 delegates, international speakers and buyers, association executives, industry partners, stakeholders and esteemed media.



MALAYSIA MARINE AND HEAVY ENGINEERING HOLDINGS BHD (MMHE) posted a net profit of RM21.97 million in the second quarter ended June 30, 2022 from a net loss of RM34.38 million contributed by the turnaround in both heavy engineering and marine segments.

Revenue increased to RM400.63 million from RM302.45 million, it said in a filing with Bursa Malaysia.

It said the company maintained a cautious stance on the overall industry outlook, focusing on orderbook replenishment through capturing business opportunities in new regions and segments.

Concurrently, it said MMHE continued to focus on cost optimisation while maximising value creation to ensure the safe and timely execution of ongoing projects.



EP MANUFACTURING BHD’s wholly-owned subsidiary, EP 4Wheeler Sdn Bhd, is partnering with Cahaya Bumi Sdn Bhd to venture into the new and used imported car distribution business, mainly in the electric vehicle (EV) segment and its localisation activity. 

In a filing with Bursa Malaysia today, it said under their memorandum of understanding (MoU), EP 4Wheeler would provide financial resources for the initial business operation while Cahaya Bumi is mandated to initiate, negotiate and execute vehicles distributorship.

It said Cahaya Bumi is also mandated to obtain open Approved Permits for imported cars and necessary approvals from the Road Transport Department Malaysia (JPJ), Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA), Ministry of International Trade and Industry (MITI) and local councils.

It added that the MoU is for a period of six months.



EMIRATES AIRLINE has launched its tour division, Emirates Holidays, in Malaysia to expand its services for Malaysian passengers, whom the airline had served for over 25 years.

In a statement today, senior vice president, online sales development, Bob Kabli said Malaysian travellers could now plan trips to some of the world’s most popular destinations, including Istanbul, London, Dubai, Zurich, Paris, Italy, and Spain, for a low deposit beginning at RM199.

He said the introduction of Emirates Holidays in Malaysia would contribute to the development of a network of travel options to 130 destinations across six continents through Dubai.
