BEIJING, Aug 15 (Bernama) - Malaysia's unique cultural diversity, historical national identity and future business prospects with China are among the highlights of the 'Malaysia Truly Asia Festival (MTAF) 2022” programme starting today until Aug 31.
Malaysian Ambassador to China Raja Datuk Nushirwan Zainal Abidin said the two-week festival which aims to raise awareness of Malaysia’s identity among the Chinese public, is held in conjunction with the country’s 65th National Day celebration.
He said the 17th Palm Oil Health and Nutrition Forum, Malaysia Truly Asia Food Week and Peranakan Art Exhibition are among activities that have been lined up during the festival.
A National Day reception will be held on Aug 31, to mark the end of the MTAF 2022 series of events.
“Since April 1 2022, Malaysia’s borders have been fully opened, enabling tourists from all over the world to visit. It is hoped that the MTAF 2022 will realise its objectives to place Malaysia firmly in the minds of the Chinese people,” he said at the launching ceremony here.
Organised by the Embassy of Malaysia in Beijing with the support of the Malaysian Chamber of Commerce and Industry in China (MAYCHAM), a non-profit social organisation, the festival is also aimed at promoting trade and exchange between the two countries.
Nushirwan said as the first country in ASEAN to establish diplomatic ties with China in 1974, Malaysia has enjoyed fruitful bilateral relations in the political, economic and people-to-people aspects.
This has made Malaysia to be one of the top travel destinations in terms of tourism, education and business for the Chinese community.
He said the brand 'Malaysia Truly Asia Festival 2022' was selected to define the essence of Malaysia’s unique cultural diversity, where all the colours, flavours, sounds and sights of Asia come together.
“Malaysia – Truly Asia has evolved from being a tagline to a brand and philosophy,” he said adding that Malaysia’s position as a melting pot and diversity is a result of its geographical location, history as well as the outlook of its peoples.
“This is reflected in our culture, cuisine and heritage which are all encapsulated in the Keluarga Malaysia (Malaysian Family) concept promoted by the government,” he said.
