CIMB Niaga's pre-tax profit rises to 3.3 trillion rupiah in 1H 2022

KUALA LUMPUR, July 27 (Bernama) -- PT Bank CIMB Niaga Tbk recorded a consolidated pre-tax profit of  3.3 trillion rupiah for the first half of 2022 (1H 2022), up 17.8 per cent year-on-year (y-o-y), which translates to earnings per share of 101.65 rupiah.

CIMB Niaga is a 92.5 per cent indirectly-owned subsidiary of CIMB Group Holdings Bhd.

CIMB Niaga president director Lani Darmawan said the bank recorded an outstanding performance in 1H 2022, attributed to strong loans/financing growth, improved fee income, strong cost controls and lower credit provision.

“These results reinforce our confidence towards attaining our targets for 2022. CIMB Niaga continues to advance at a solid pace in key strategic areas, including its position as one of the leaders in digital banking innovation.

“Our digital edge and talent capabilities will continue to enhance the customer experience and drive long-term growth and efficiency,” she said in a statement today.

CIMB Niaga’s capital adequacy ratio and loan-to-deposit ratio closed at 21.1 per cent and 80.9 per cent respectively as at June 30, 2022, while total assets stood at 311.0 trillion rupiah, solidifying the bank’s position as Indonesia’s second-largest privately owned bank by total assets.

Total deposits reached 232.0 trillion rupiah with the CASA (current accounts savings accounts) ratio rising to 65.7 per cent.

Total loans/financing stood at 189.7 trillion rupiah, contributed mainly by the growth in corporate banking (+15.5 per cent y-o-y) and consumer banking (+13.8 per cent y-o-y). Mortgages grew by 8.5 per cent y-o-y while auto loans rose 51.7 per cent y-o-y.

Lani said the bank will continue to innovate its digital customer experience by integrating various products and services into its Super App OCTO Mobile.

The bank recently launched a digital credit card named OCTO Card in collaboration with three principals, namely PT JCB International Indonesia, PT Mastercard Indonesia, and PT Visa Worldwide Indonesia.

“As a digital credit card integrated into OCTO Mobile, customers can leverage OCTO Card for online shopping at various e-commerce or offline merchants through the Scan QRIS feature, without the need to carry a physical card,” she said.

This, she said, is also in line with CIMB Niaga's initiatives in supporting the sustainable development goals, one of which is reducing the use of plastic cards.
