PERUSAHAAN OTOMOBIL KEDUA SDN BHD (Perodua) has lauded the Ministry of Finance's (MoF) announcement to allow customers to enjoy the sales tax exemption as long as their vehicles are booked up to June 30, 2022, saying the registration extension to March 31, 2023 is a relief to the ecosystem and consumers.

In a statement today, Perodua president and chief executive officer Datuk Zainal Abidin Ahmad said this would give the industry and market some breathing room to meet consumers demand while at the same time give the players time to overcome various issues besetting the industry.

“To-date, we have significant outstanding orders which we are working to fulfil," he added.

Zainal Abidin said Perodua had registered 106,179 vehicles between January and May this year, which was 10 per cent more than the 96,281 units registered in the same period last year.
