Penang expects 4,000 delegates from 80 countries at WCIT 2022 In September
GEORGE TOWN, June 17 (Bernama) -- Penang is expecting about 4,000 delegates from over 80 countries for the “Olympics” of the world’s information technology industry, the World Conference on Information Technology (WCIT 2022), in September this year.
Themed “Connecting and Transforming the World”, WCIT 2022 is slated to be held from Sept 13-15, with leading speakers including the co-father of the internet and Google’s chief internet evangelist Vint Cerf; NASA’s chief financial officer Douglas Comstock; and strategic futurist and author Nancy Giordano.
Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow said the state has ramped up and polished services at tourist attractions and upgraded its hospitality services since the opening of the country’s borders to welcome guests from around the world to visit Penang for business and leisure.
“This is the ultimate platform for us, particularly in Penang, to gain as much knowledge and experience from these experts in order to grow, upgrade ourselves, and compete for the better,” he said in his speech at the countdown celebration of WCIT 2022, here, today.
He also said that the event provides an opportunity for Malaysia to welcome influential global tech industry leaders to the country which is rich in cultural diversity, modern in lifestyle and uniquely located in the central hub of Asia.
