STANDARD CHARTERED SAADIQ MALAYSIA, has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to be a member of the United Nations Global Compact (UNGC) network.

In a statement today, the bank said the membership marks an important milestone for the bank’s sustainable journey and firm commitment towards Malaysia’s value-based intermediation initiative in driving a more sustainable and equitable future.

The MoU was inked by chief executive officer Mohd Suhaimi Abdul Hamid and UNGC Network Malaysia and Brunei executive director Faroze Nadar, it added.

UEM SUNRISE BHD has partnered with Affin Bank Bhd in the ‘Home Step Fast/i’ campaign to offer financing solutions to home buyers with one of the lowest monthly repayments for the first five years and an attractive loan margin.

In a statement today, the company said that through the campaign, purchasers can also convert the loan into a savings scheme for those who need access to emergency funds, suitable for investors and new homebuyers who want to reap the benefits of a higher rental yield while preserving their cash flow.

It noted the campaign also offers no lock-in period and no early settlement fee for buyers, which is perfect for those seeking to settle their loans as quickly as they can. A total of RM300 million has been allocated to the programme to help UEM Sunrise’s customers realise their dream of home ownership.

“We understand that it can be daunting, especially for first-time house buyers. Not only do they have to be faced with choosing the right development that can cater to their needs, there is also a plethora of options for end-financing,” said chief executive officer Sufian Abdullah.

SUNWAY UNIVERSITY won two prestigious awards at the British Malaysian Chamber of Commerce (BMCC) Business Excellence Awards 2022, in the categories of “UK-Malaysia Partnership of the Year” and “UK-Malaysia Education Institutional Partnership”. 

In a statement today, the university said these wins have reiterated the importance of forging partnerships between institutes of higher learning like Sunway University with United Kingdom (UK) and Malaysian counterparts.

It noted that AstraZeneca and Sunway University were named “UK-Malaysia Partnership of the Year” in recognition of driving digital innovation in healthcare.

The joint-venture collaboration and synergies created through this partnership have driven exceptional commercial results and shown significant value-creation to Malaysia's economy and education sector, capitalising on the best of UK and Malaysian expertise through a seamless partnership, it said.

GRAB consumers in Malaysia can now affordably access the best of Grab services when they subscribe to GrabUnlimited where they could enjoy more rewards, benefits and earn up to 1.5 per cent wherever they spend with GrabPay and PayLater.

In a statement today, the company said the recently launched GrabUnlimited is offering two sets of discount vouchers - Exclusive Monthly Promotions which vary from month to month, and Subscription Vouchers which are a standard number of vouchers each month and members can also enjoy two discounts at the same time, which increases their savings per order.

Grab Malaysia managing director Sean Goh said each order on the Grab app helped generated income for its delivery and merchant-partners and with their support, Grab’s partners across the region had earned US$8.9 billion in 2021.

 “To provide more value to our consumers, we launched GrabUnlimited and current members are already saving up to RM300 per month,” he added.

AWANBIRU TECHNOLOGY BHD’S wholly owned subsidiary Awantec Systems Sdn Bhd had entered into a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Halal Development Corporation Bhd to undertake possible collaboration to create an online halal skills repository and platform.

In a filing with Bursa Malaysia today, the group said the collaboration period anticipated pursuant to this MoU is two years commencing from June 2, 2022 and expiring on June 1, 2024.

“Among others, the scope of the proposed collaboration encompassed the collaboration to provide online learning platform that offers halal courses, job placement platform for halal talent, and Google-based solution packages exclusive for Halal Integrated Platform (HIP) members.

“It includes joint marketing efforts to cross promote HIP and the Google Cloud Small Medium Enterprise solutions via all marketing channels to both local and global markets,” it said.
