KUALA LUMPUR, 26 May (Bernama) -- YTL Communications Sdn Bhd’s YES mobile network operator has launched the “5G for All” campaign in a bid to bring 5G connectivity to all Malaysians.

Communications and Multimedia Minister Tan Sri Annuar Musa lauded YTL for providing better 5G services through the campaign to all Malaysian at affordable prices.

“It is an important step that YTL made in providing Malaysians with higher speed internet connectivity at lower cost and I think that other telcos should follow suit.

“I hope there will be no gap between people in the urban and rural areas when this 5G implementation takes place nationwide as 40 per cent of Malaysia is expected to be 5G ready by the end of this year,” he said at the campaign launch ceremony here today.

Present was YTL Communications chief executive officer Wing K. Lee and Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission chairman Datuk Dr Fadhlullah Suhaimi Abdul Malek.

YTL managing director Datuk Yeoh Seok Hong said the company is committed to providing affordable 5G service and is proud to be the first telco to bring 5G to Malaysia five months ago.

“While inflation is increasing every year, YTL aims to provide Malaysia with a lower cost of 5G internet connectivity compared to 4G,” he said.

It is expected that 80 per cent of the nation will be 5G ready by 2024.
