LLM, PCSB TO DEVELOP SMART HIGHWAY MANAGEMENT SYSTEM

26/05/2022 07:34 PM

KUALA LUMPUR, May 26 (Bernama) -- The Malaysian High Authority (LLM) and Prosignal Consortium Sdn Bhd (PCSB) will be collaborating to develop a smart highway management system based on the concept of a Smart Highway.

Toward this, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between LLM and PCSB in Putrajaya today. LLM  was represented by its chairman, Datuk Abdul Rashid Asari and was witnessed by LLM director-general Datuk Mohd Shuhaimi Hassan, while PCSB was represented by managing director Mohd Azrul Fauzi  Baharon and was witnessed by its executive chairman Datuk Mohd Edzreen Mohd Din.

LLM in a statement today said the cooperation is a strategy of LLM to face the future of the digital era in highway industry and to meet the needs as well as higher expectations of users.

“It is hoped through the MoU signed today, there would be the seeding of new ideas as value add to improve services to highway users,” according to the statement.

The cooperation is one of the initiatives outlined in the LLM Strategic Business Plan for 2021-2025 which was launched by Senior Works Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof last year in empowering the digitisation of highway monitoring and construction via Industrial Revolution 4.0 (IR4.0).

The digitisation of operations and data centres as well as the standardisation of the highway management system will facilitate LLM in channeling information faster and more accurately to highway users.

The smartphone application works to channel information related to the traffic situation on the highway in real time to users to enable them to plan trips and avoid highway congestion and travel more smoothly.

It also provides facilities such as e-wallets and additional features such as car pool for the convenience of the public.

The use of Internet of Things (IOT) technology in monitoring construction, operation and maintenance of highway assets will also increase the level of efficiency in ensuring more orderly management of highway assets.

"LLM is confident that through the consolidation of expertise possessed by both parties as well as cooperation from highway industry partners, this effort will yield the best results and benefit Malaysian families, especially highway users," he said.
