KUALA TERENGGANU, April 28 (Bernama) -- East Coast Fertilizer Sdn Bhd (ECF), producer of fertilisers for the oil palm and agricultural crops, is targeting to achieve sales of RM26.62 million this year.
Chief executive officer, Mohd Kamal Nazmi Kamaruddin said he is confident of achieving the target due to the high demand from oil palm plantations owned by the Terengganu state government, such as TDM Plantation Sdn Bhd and Ladang Rakyat Terengganu.
ECF was set up on March 1, 2021, to help plantation operators and growers boost their incomes through higher and better quality yields by using fertilisers containing balanced and sufficient nutrients.
“As of the first quarter of this year, we have recorded sales of around RM3 million, with Terengganu plantations being our first customers,” he said to Bernama today.
Currently, the Terengganu state government’s subsidiary company produces three fertiliser variants, namely AJIB CRF, JITU SROF dan AJIB٩٩, each with different formulations to boost oil palm and agricultural yields.
Mohd Kamal Nazmi said AJIB CRF was specially formulated using the controlled fertiliser release technique for oil palm crops.
It is also the first fertiliser product developed in Malaysia using the Polymer Coating Agglomeration Technology from Germany.
He said the technology was capable of boosting the crops’ absorption of nutrients, reducing fertiliser wastage due to heavy rains as well as increasing crop enzyme activity and yields.
“Meanwhile, JITU SROF is an organic fertiliser enriched with macro and micronutrients to improve growth and ensure the plants remain healthy, while reducing crop losses in the early growth stages.
“Additionally, AJIB٩٩ is the first Malaysian-made product to have been patented in reducing the Ganoderma disease; it contains Enzyme Activator (EA) and micronutrients to enhance oil palm’s immunity against the disease," he said.
Scientific studies conducted by ECF together with its strategic partner, namely consultants from University Putra Malaysia from 2012-2015 proved that the use of the fertiliser had managed to boost the weight of fresh fruit bunches by up to 25 per cent compared to regular fertilisers.
Mohd Kamal Nazmi said the fertiliser has been used by the Rubber Industry Smallholders Development Authority (RISDA), the Federal Land Consolidation and Rehabilitation Authority (Felcra) and TDM Plantation Sdn Bhd, among others.
“Together with our strategic partner, we have been conducting studies from time to time to improve the quality of the fertiliser.
“We aim to help the state government by developing several areas as agrifood warehouse hub by supplying high-quality fertilisers to farmers or agricultural area operators,” he said.
He added that to further develop the agriculture and plantation sector in the East Coast, ECF is also working with Diversatech Fertilizer Sdn Bhd, and plan to set up a fertiliser plant in the next two years.
