KUALA LUMPUR, March 30 (Bernama) -- Real Estate and Housing Developers’ Association Malaysia (Rehda) has inked a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with United Kingdom (UK)-based Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB) to establish linkage and cooperation between both parties.

Rehda acting president Datuk N K Tong said that under the terms of the MoU, Rehda and CIOB will work together and maximise the utilisation of its respective resources through mutual sharing of expertise for the benefit of the industry, its clients and society at large, amongst others.

“With the signing of this MoU, we hope it will give us an edge to improve our position in the industry.

“We look forward to the partnership and the opportunity to learn from and collaborate with such an esteemed and world-renowned professional body,” said Tong during the virtual signing ceremony of the MoU today.

Rehda was represented by Tong, while signing on behalf of CIOB UK was its chief executive officer Caroline Gumble.

It was witnessed by Rehda’s most recent past president and also CIOB’s UK senior vice-president Datuk Seri Michael Yam.

Gumble noted that the collaboration between two organisations with shared goals can do a great deal to improve the built environment for creators and users, drive up standards and promote professional development and educational opportunities.

Meanwhile, Yam hoped that Rehda members will also seek professional membership of the CIOB to demonstrate their credibility and professionalism, share their expertise and network among members in the United States, Canada, South Africa, UK, Australia and others.

He also said that CIOB provides career support where members could gain professional qualification and recognition as well as continuous learning and development through courses and seminars conducted by the CIOB Academy, amongst others.
