ISKANDAR MALAYSIA YOUTH HUB OFFERS GRANTS, ALLOWANCES AND SKILLS TRAINING WORTH RM1 MLN

JOHOR BAHRU, Oct 7 -- Iskandar Malaysia Youth Hub is offering grants, allowances and skills training to youth entrepreneurs in Johor worth RM1 million to help ease the burden of those affected by COVID-19.

Iskandar Regional Development Authority (IRDA) chief executive Datuk Ismail Ibrahim said through the initiative, youths aged between 18 and 35 in the state, either individuals or small and medium enterprises (SMEs), could apply for a grant worth RM5,000, allowances and skills training in eight modules.

“Through the Iskandar Malaysia Youth Entrepreneur Scheme (IMYES) programme that was introduced in line with the region’s economic prosperity and inclusive agenda and in conjunction with the Iskandar Malaysia 15th Anniversary Campaign (IM15CC), we are confident that this assistance will encourage entrepreneurship.

“Besides that, it is also able to reduce the unemployment rate among youths. This is one of the important components in addressing the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic,” he said in a statement today.

He said the grant applied for must be used to purchase machinery, equipment, raw materials, credit purchases as well as for promotional and marketing purposes.

The IMYES programme by Iskandar Youth Hub Sdn Bhd, through funds provided by the National Economic Recovery Plan (PENJANA), provides skills training including entrepreneurship, finance, sales and marketing as well as the latest trends in digitisation.

It is one of the programmes under the SECURE@IskandarMalaysia initiative which also offers various assistance in terms of finance and training, including for the B40 group, vulnerable, urban agriculture and businesses.
