MDEC BRINGS BACK #MYDIGITALWORKFORCE WEEK

13/08/2021 11:51 AM

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 13  -- The Malaysia Digital Economy Malaysia (MDEC) will be bringing back the #MyDigitalWorkforce Week for week three of the Malaysia Tech Month 2021 (MTM21).

MDEC said #MyDigitalWorkforce Week features a series of webinars on digital jobs and career awareness, reskilling and upskilling opportunities, as well as a jobs expo -- all aimed at preparing the Malaysian workforce for jobs in the digital economy.

The event will be held virtually from Aug 16-30, 2021, it said in a statement today.

"#MyDigitalWorkforce Week is headlined by the Digital Jobs Expo, which is expected to feature more than 5,000 job vacancies from more than 100 companies including KPMG, Dell Technologies, Shopee and Petronas Digital," said MDEC.

The Digital Jobs Expo will run concurrently with the #MyDigitalWorkforce Week.

It said MDEC is also working with various partners -- including training companies and industry experts -- to hold more than 70 #MyDigitalWorkforce Week satellite events such as webinars, panel sessions and training in digital tech areas.

Participating companies include 42KL, HELP University, General Assembly, Trainocate (M) Sdn Bhd and Open Learning Global (M) Sdn Bhd.

These satellite events will cover relevant topics such as artificial intelligence, machine learning, data science, robotic process automation and other emerging technologies.

“#MyDigitalWorkforce Week comes at a time of increased relevance as the COVID-19 pandemic has greatly transformed the job landscape and the way people work.

“The pandemic and the resulting lockdowns have also increased Malaysia’s unemployment rate, which rose to 4.8 per cent in 2020, compared to 3.3 per cent in 2019,” MDEC said.

MDEC is also bringing back its ‘Let’s Learn Digital’ campaign in collaboration with Coursera, following its successful run last year.

It said this year, the campaign has kicked off by offering free digital marketing courses and certification from Facebook, Google and LinkedIn.
