KUALA LUMPUR, July 23 -- The Motorsports Association of Malaysia (MAM) is set to conduct two-day virtual Officials Training sessions this weekend which aiming to equip participants with up-to-date knowledge of racing rules.

MAM secretary-general Muizz Azli said the up-to-date knowledge of racing rules, including race etiquette, management, safety and duties of officials during a race, is vital to ensure that sanctioned events in Malaysia are officiated by qualified officials of national and international standards.

He said the sessions will be conducted by trainers with vast experience on the tracks and are certified by the International Motorsports Authority, Federation Internationale de I’Automobile (FIA), and Federation Internationale de Motorcyclisme (FIM).

“This training would also provide a platform for motorsports enthusiasts to develop their career and work towards becoming qualified officials.

“I would like to thank the Youth and Sports Ministry for its strong support and continual collaboration with MAM for the development of motorsports in Malaysia,” he said in a statement here today.

The first session of the training tomorrow, which is limited to members of MAM-affiliated clubs, would focus on officials for car racing, while the session for motorcycle racing is set to be conducted on Sunday.
