MATRADE TARGETS RM60 MLN EXPORT SALES VIA EBIZLINK PROGRAMME

KUALA LUMPUR, July 21 -- The Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE) aims to assist 600 Malaysian companies and generate RM60 million export sales globally through the Electronic Business Linkages (eBizLink) programme. 

In a statement today, MATRADE said the programme is under the government’s People and Economic Strategic Empowerment Programme (PEMERKASA) initiative.

The national trade promotion agency said the eBizLink provides cost-effective and sustainable solutions for Malaysian small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and mid-tier companies (MTCs) to seize new business opportunities in the global marketplace brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic.

“The eBizLink programme is anticipated to greatly benefit Malaysian businesses in exploring the global market by leveraging on e-commerce and various effective hybrid marketing channels to weather the challenges and ongoing uncertainties by the COVID-19 pandemic.

“The one-year programme will be officially rolled out in the second half of 2021,” said MATRADE deputy chief executive officer, Sharimahton Mat Saleh. 

Over 40 eBusiness Global Campaigns would be organised under the eBizLink programme, of which the first project was launched online simultaneously in Kuala Lumpur and Beijing on June 17, 2021.

A total of 45 virtual meetings were arranged between Malaysian companies and Chinese buyers in the first project, MATRADE said.

The agency said that an initial sales of 15.18 million yuan (RM9.87 million) were recorded in the first project, with the main products sourced included frozen durian, durian ice cream, dried durian, birds nest, instant noodle, freeze fried fruits, jam spread, spices, paste, honey and sauces.
