INSURANCE AND TAKAFUL ASSOCIATIONS CALL ON POLICY HOLDERS TO SUBMIT COVID-19 TEST CLAIM

KUALA LUMPUR, July 1 -- The Life Insurance Association of Malaysia (LIAM) together with the Malaysian Takaful Association (MTA) and General Insurance Association of Malaysia (PIAM) have urged its policy or certificate holder to submit claims on COVID-19 test under the COVID-19 Test Fund (CTF).

A joint statement by the three associations today said applicants who have done their test on or before May 31, 2021 might submit their application via MyCTF website at www.myctf.my by July 15, 2021.

“The RM10 million CTF was officially closed on May 21, 2021 as announced on the websites of LIAM, PIAM and MTA.

“However, the insurance and takaful industry has decided to consider appeal for tests conducted on or before May 31, 2021 and the reimbursements are subjected to the fulfilment of the eligibility criteria set for the CTF on a case-to-case basis,” it said.

It said approval of application from policy or certificate holders is at the sole discretion of the CTF and applicants would be informed if their appeal is approved by the CTF.

Meanwhile, it said the COVID-19 Relief Program on deferral of premiums or contributions for up to three months has been extended to the end of 2021 for affected policy or certificate holders as well as cash assistance, hospitalisation and death benefits for customers who are diagnosed with COVID-19. 

“From April to December 2021, life insurers and family takaful operators have pledged additional fresh funds to assist policy/certificate holders in the form of medical assistance for COVID-19 treatment in government or private hospitals as well as serious vaccine side effects under the National Immunisation Programme,” it added.

The CTF which was launched in March last year has to date benefited over 65,000 applicants.
