CIMB CONTINUES TO EXTEND FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE TO AFFECTED CUSTOMERS

KUALA LUMPUR, June 4 -- CIMB Bank Bhd and CIMB Islamic Bank Bhd will continue to extend financial relief assistance programmes for all affected customers, in line with the recent Pemerkasa Plus aid package announced by the government.

The bank said the latest financial relief assistance programmes would be extended to customers who have lost their jobs, B40 customers, microenterprise as well as small and medium enterprises (SMEs) that were not allowed to operate during Movement Control Order (MCO).

Customers may opt for a three-month moratorium or a 50 per cent reduction in monthly instalments for six months, it said in a statement today.

“Affected borrowers are only required to select their preferred option and approval will be automatic, subject to them meeting the criteria highlighted,” it said. 

It said customers who experienced any reduction in income would also able to benefit from reduced monthly instalment payments, and other affected borrowers could also reach out to the bank to restructure and reschedule financing solutions.

CIMB Group chief executive officer Datuk Abdul Rahman Ahmad said the bank aims to help affected customers stay resilient, given the prolonged challenges.

“We have ensured a convenient and simple process for our customers to choose a payment relief programme,” he said.

As of end-May, CIMB has processed around 165,000 financial relief applications from individual and business borrowers in Malaysia, amounting to over RM22 billion, with an approval rate of virtually 100 per cent.
