KUALA LUMPUR, May 5 -- Malaysia Airports has renewed its collaboration with Asian Business Aviation Association (AsBAA), following its Subang Airport Regeneration Initiative to shape Malaysia as Asia Pacific’s preferred hub for business aviation and maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO).

According to a statement by Malaysia Airports, under the renewed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) agreement, AsBAA  would be providing advisory and expertise from various fields and assist in airport planning.

Malaysia Airports on the other hand would be investing in developing the infrastructure and capacity to benefit the aviation players in the ecosystem.

AsBAA is a non-profit trade organisation representing more than 150 aviation players and industry experts.

“Subang Airport is poised to be the one stop centre in providing end-to-end services with complete state-of-the-art infrastructures by leveraging on Malaysia’s position as the fourth largest base for business jet fleet in Asia Pacific.

“Currently, we are housing global champions in business aviation with the presence of Dassault Aviation via its MRO arm, Execujet MRO Services and supported by other key local anchors such as Sapura Aero, Smooth Route, Berjaya Air amongst others,” said MAHB’s KLIA Aeropolis head Randhill Singh.

He said the airport is well-known for its business aviation community that specialises in MRO, fixed-base operations, aircraft management, ground support as well as trip support services.

“Therefore, our partnership with AsBAA will benefit not only us but also our tenants and partners with feedback and updates on the latest developments in the Asia-Pacific region regarding the business aviation sector or the general aviation industry,” he said.

Meanwhile, AsBAA Malaysia Chapter head and member of the Board of Governor Aida Ismail said Malaysia Airports is a vital component for the development of the industry.

“The Association thanks Malaysia Airports for this important MOU renewal,” she said.

Malaysia Airports and AsBAA first signed an MoU at the Singapore Airshow in 2018.
