RED HAT TO BOOST SUPPORT FOR 5G NETWORK, IN LINE WITH MYDIGITAL INITIATIVE

09/03/2021 02:34 PM

KUALA LUMPUR, March 9  -- Red Hat Malaysia aims to focus on accelerating the implementation of the fifth-generation (5G) technology standard for broadband cellular networks for businesses, in line with the government’s MyDIGITAL aspiration to drive the digital economy’s growth.

Red Hat Malaysia and Brunei country manager Eric Quah said as an open-source solutions provider, the company will work together with its digital partners to achieve sufficient capabilities in terms of the 5G bandwidth, especially for small and medium enterprises (SMEs).

“We see a lot of activities in setting up the MyDIGITAL 5G infrastructure, which is critical in helping businesses achieve digitalisation,” he said during the Red Hat Asean Partner Strategy 2021 virtual briefing today.

He added that the company is also looking at a high double-digit growth for businesses in the country following the MyDIGITAL initiative.

“We hope the government will continue to assist businesses to grow in the digital economy,” said Quah, adding that Red Hat and its partners would continue to support the SMEs’ digital growth.

Meanwhile, he noted that 70 per cent of Red Hat’s business in Asia and the Pacific region had been conducted through its partners.

“This shows that there are opportunities for enterprises to have open source as their prime choice for their businesses.

“We are also looking into expanding our presence to more countries,” Quah said.

Red Hat is a global provider of enterprise open source software solutions, using a community-powered approach to deliver reliable and high-performing Linux, hybrid cloud, container and Kubernetes technologies.
