KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 19 -- AEON Malaysia (AEON) has teamed up with local celebrity Alif Satar to render assistance to those affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, with the online launch today of the product, Nasi Ayam Sambal Abang Sado, through the 'SAMBADO' Buy Chicken Rice and Donation Campaign.
AEON Malaysia chief executive officer Shafie Shamsuddin said his team was happy with the campaign cooperation as AEON supports traders of small and medium enterprises (SMEs).
“AEON supports SMEs through the Cloud Kitchen concept and, at the same time, the public can donate through the purchase of 10 SAMBADO Chicken Rice where one of it goes to charity,” he said in a statement today.
Meanwhile, AEON nutrition division head Azidah Alimuddin said food delivery services had been in high demand during the pandemic through the Cloud Kitchen concept.
AEON will provide kitchen space to SME traders and the food will be sold through the AEON MAKAN application or through the website at makan.myaeon.com.my.
“This concept helps traders to maintain their cash flow and, at the same time, save on business costs because there is no need for capital and high daily operating costs,” Azidah said.
In the meantime, Shafie also said that AEON intends to recruit more than 400 additional riders for delivery services and will offer jobs for full-time riders where free motorcycles will be provided. There will also be flexi riders who will use their own motorcycles.
Shafie said that for every 10 packets of SAMBADO sold, the income of one packet will be distributed (to the needy) by non-governmental organisations.
“We are targeting daily sales of 20,000 packets of SAMBADO Chicken Rice nationwide through a network of more than 65 AEON branches, namely AEON GMS Supermarket, AEON BiG and AEON MaxValu.
"These donations will be distributed by our branches the next day and AEON will work with local community leaders to identify those who need this assistance,” he added.
In another development, AEON also welcomed the opening of the balance of retail businesses starting today to ensure economic sustainability, especially for small traders, as this will help revive the business chain covering manufacturers, wholesalers, traders and buyers.
"We will also be able to see a balance in terms of sales and this will help the businesses provided by all retail stores, especially in all our AEON branches," he added.
