KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 19 -- Local e-hailing mobile application (app), GOJO Malaysia is not taking any commissions from its drivers and delivery riders throughout the 14-day Movement Control Order (MCO 2.0) period, starting Jan 14.

GOJO chief operating officer Pradeep Kumar said the move was made to help GOJO’s driver-partners ride through the slow demand period as a result of the MCO 2.0.

“The zero per cent commission initiative during MCO 2.0 is a natural step in the right direction for us.

“GOJO is a collective vision created for locals and by locals. So in the most trying of times, we want to do everything we can to support our local community, even at our own expense,” Pradeep said in a statement to Bernama.

In support of the government’s efforts to flatten the COVID-19 curve, he said GOJO has also implemented the Face Mask Recognition Technology on the GOJO Driver app, which requires all drivers to verify that they are wearing face masks before they can receive any booking requests.

He said the technology is part of several health and safety measures that GOJO has been strictly implementing to ensure maximum protection for customers and drivers on the road.

“While cash transactions are still dominant in Malaysia, we have been rolling out multiple programmes in partnership with e-wallet partners like Touch’nGo and Boost to encourage cashless payments when booking GOJO services,” added Pradeep.

Launched in August 2020, GOJO is Malaysia’s latest local e-hailing operator, which went against all odds  to attain sustainable growth despite the ongoing pandemic.

To-date, GOJO is serving over 117,000 customers in both on-demand transportation and delivery services.
