KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 6 -- Bank Kerjasama Rakyat Malaysia Bhd (Bank Rakyat) has set aside RM500,000 in special assistance for flood victims in the country.
Minister of Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives Datuk Seri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar said the special assistance in the form of basic necessities and medicines will be distributed to the victims in affected areas including Kelantan, Terengganu, Pahang, Perak, Selangor and Johor.
In a statement today, he said it was evident that Bank Rakyat, which is an agency under the ministry, is committed in its effort to ensure that the community especially the underprivileged and B40 groups will benefit from the returns earned by the bank every year.
”Hopefully, through this assistance, the more than 20,000 flood victims from over 6,000 families in the affected areas can go on with their daily activities as usual,” he said.
