30/11/2020 09:14 PM

KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 30 -- LKL International Bhd has secured a RM163.21 million contract to supply nitrile examination gloves to Shang Hong International (Hong Kong) Ltd.

The group said the contract, which was awarded to its wholly-owned subsidiary, LKL Advance Metaltech Sdn Bhd was scheduled to be completed by the fourth quarter (Q4) of next year.

"The sales contract is expected to contribute positively to the earnings for the financial year ending April 30, 2021," it said in a filing with Bursa Malaysia today.

LKL Advance Metaltech is involved in the provision of medical and healthcare beds, medical equipment, composite dressing, medical peripherals and accessories.

LKL said the contract was set to begin in December 2020 and would be last for a period of one year up to December 2021.

“This new contract win also represents LKL International’s second glove contract win following an earlier US$19 million (US$1=RM4.07) sales contract secured from China-based Weihai Textile Group Import and Export Co Ltd in September 2020,” it said.

Meanwhile, in the domestic market, the group supplied medical beds and peripherals to government healthcare providers in Sabah from October to November 2020, worth more than RM150,000 in value.

“This entailed the delivery of more than 40 units of medical beds and various medical peripherals comprising hospital manual beds, ICU beds, hydraulic beds and delivery beds, in addition to medical peripherals such as baby cots, child cots, ward screens, emergency carts and medication carts,” it said.

LKL International managing director Lim Kon Lian said the group had established a strong track record and network which enabled the company to meet the increasing demands due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

“We are also able to swiftly broaden our product portfolio to cater to present market requirements, with the new contract from Shang Hong International and maiden delivery of nitrile medical gloves to Weihai Textile Group Import and Export a testament to our capabilities.

“Furthermore, we are also assisting export markets with their medical requirements, as seen in our increasing sales of medical beds to other countries,” he added.

LKL's share price closed six sen or 6.25 per cent higher at RM1.02.
