TNB NOT CURRENTLY WORKING ON LISTING POWER GENERATION UNIT
KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 11 -- Tenaga Nasional Bhd (TNB) said it is not working on any groundwork for a listing of TNB Power Generation Sdn Bhd at present.
Its focus currently was to drive operational efficiency for the generation company, the utility giant said in a filing with Bursa Malaysia today.
TNB was clarifying news reports, quoting unnamed sources, that said it was considering to list its power generation business on the local stock exchange next year.
However, the company said it would continue to explore opportunities to further enhance the shareholder's value.
“TNB will make the necessary announcement if there is any change to this, in accordance with TNB’s disclosure obligations as per Main Market Listing Requirements of Bursa Malaysia Securities Bhd,” it added.
The reports said TNB was mulling the listing following its recent corporate reorganisation.
On the reorganisation of TNB Power Generation completed on Oct 1, TNB said: “This exercise aims to group together and corporatise divisions in TNB as wholly-owned subsidiaries of TNB, for increased focus, efficiency and transparency.”
