MALINDO AIR CLOSES KOLKATA AIRPORT OFFICE

05/11/2020 09:31 PM

NEW DELHI, Nov 5 -- Malindo Air has closed its office at Kolkata airport after ending its service to the key Indian regional hub.

"The airline shut their office last month and informed us that they are closing down operations from the city," Kolkata airport director Kaushik Bhattacharjee was quoted as saying by an Indian newspaper.

The Malaysia-based airline launched five-times weekly service between Kuala Lumpur International Airport and Kolkata's Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport in October 2018.

The coronavirus pandemic has hit the travel industry hard and scheduled international passenger flights has been suspended in India since March 23.

Malindo has laid off 2,647 workers since Nov 1.
