BUKIT MERTAJAM, Oct 5 -- Kairos Agriculture and PWD Smart Farmability Sdn Bhd (PWD) today signed a memorandum of agreement (MoA) in an effort to increase the quality of organic vegetable development worth RM1 million.
Jubli Rebak Baru Sdn Bhd managing director Ezra Tan who is also Kairos Agriculture owner said the cooperation aimed at establishing an environmental-friendly agriculture model through the terrarium-concept ‘Hope Box’ to increase the quality of organic produce.
“Through this concept, it is hoped to increase society’s awareness of consuming organic food which is more healthy and beneficial for the environment. It can also improve the local economy via the social enterprise model,” he said in a press conference at Permatang Pauh Agro Park here.
Earlier, Ezra signed the MoA together with PWD founder and chief executive officer Dr Billy Tang Chee Sang.
Also present were Penang Yang Dipertua Tun Abdul Rahman Abbas and Seberang Perai City Council Mayor Datuk Rozali Mohamud.
Ezra said for a start, Kairos Agriculture would manage and produce 500 Hope Boxes every month on a 185.5-sq metre area in Permatang Pauh Agro Park, involving aquatic plants and Brazilian spinach.
“Each Hope Box can produce a one-year vegetable supply for one family,” he said, adding that the next phase would focus on the layout and design process of aquaponic plants for fish breeding and growing organic vegetables.
