KOOP SAHABAT ANNOUNCES 11 PER CENT DIVIDEND
KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 29 -- Koperasi Sahabat Amanah Ikhtiar Malaysia Bhd (Koop Sahabat) has declared a dividend of 11 per cent for the 2019 financial year, equivalent to a payout of RM4.25 million to its 222,298 members, surpassing the eight per cent dividend distribution in 2018.
Koop Sahabat chief executive officer, Mazri Mahmood said the dividend distribution is based on the share capital for the financial year ended Dec 31, 2019, after a zakat deduction of 8.5 per cent.
He said the higher dividend payout was backed by the Ar-Rahnu’s business activities, which contributed a net income of RM6.7 million compared with RM4.8 million recorded in 2018.
Mazri added that the dividend payout was proof of Koop Sahabat’s ability to provide consistently higher returns for its members through investments in high-value business sectors.
“Aside from alleviating the financial burden of the members, it is hoped that the dividend payout will be able to catalyse the development of their respective businesses,” he said in a statement today.
Mazri said the cooperative has also formulated a strategic plan for the 2020-2024 period, encompassing corporate governance, integrity in service delivery and exploration of profitable high-value new business and investment opportunities.
Koop Sahabat owns large-scale businesses in fields such as hospitality, plantations and food manufacturing through the cumulative member capital in cooperatives belonging to Sahabat Amanah Ikhtiar Malaysia (AIM).
