BUMIPUTERAS ENCOURAGED TO VENTURE INTO BUSINESS THROUGH CO-OPS
KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 14 -- Members of the public especially Bumiputeras who are interested to start their own business with just a small capital are encouraged to register with the Malaysian Muslim Consumer Development Cooperative (KoPPIM).
KoPPIM chief executive officer Mohd Fadzil Hashim said the monthly membership contribution of RM100 would be invested in selected high impact businesses such as the Malakat Mall and the community supermarket, Malakat Grocer 812.
“It is hoped that this initiative will open up opportunities and help encourage more Muslims as well as Bumiputeras to venture into business to generate extra income and contribute to the country’s economic development.
“We would like to invite members of the public especially residents in Taman Putra Perdana here to shop at this supermarket and be part of the business through KoPPIM shares,” he said at the opening of the first Malakat Grocer 812 store in Taman Putra Perdana, Puchong, near here, today.
Mohd Fadzil who is also the founder of the supermarket said the premises would provide opportunities to Muslim and Bumiputera entrepreneurs especially from the small and medium enterprises segment to market and sell their products.
“We will also introduce a food aid programme for eligible families from the B40 group that will enable them to buy basic necessities at this supermarket at subsidised prices,” he said.
The supermarket opens daily from 8 am until midnight.
