MALAYSIAN FRANCHISE ASSOCIATION TO HOLD AWARDS NIGHT 2020

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 5  -- The Malaysian Franchise Association (MFA) will be organising the Malaysia Franchise Awards Night 2020, in April 2021 in recognition of franchise participants who are developing the franchise business concept in Malaysia.

Its Strategic Management general manager Wan Muhammad Zainal Wan Yahya said the awards night which would be held for the 23rd time in collaboration with the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs (KPDNHEP) aims to encourage local innovation in an effort to improve the quality of business and the franchise sector.

"The award offers several categories including the Franchise System Category, Franchise Category, Open Category and Media Category. The winning candidates will be evaluated by a panel of evaluators, comprising corporate, professional and public institutions of higher learning.

"It is based on several important criteria such as the franchise system, total franchise growth, annual sales value as well as research and innovation that has been implemented," he said during the Malaysia Franchise Awards 2020 briefing webinar session here today.

He added that a total of 19 awards will be up for grabs such as Best Franchisor, Best Hope Franchisor, Best Master Franchisor, Best International Franchisor, Best Malaysian Franchisee, Best International Franchise, Best Malaysian Hope Franchise and Best International Hope Franchisor.

Wan Muhammad Zainal said among the terms and conditions of participation were companies must be registered under the Franchise Act 1998, conducting franchise business not exceeding four years for the Hope Category, not less than two years for the Open Category and having audited accounts for 2017 to 2019.

For the Open Category, among the awards to be won are Best Franchise Social Responsibility, Best Franchise Employer, Best Franchise Innovation, Best Franchise Business Plan while for the Media Category is Best Franchise Journalism and Best Franchise Industry Feature.

Participation is open to all MFA members by filling in the entry form through the website http://efdpapps.mfa.org.my/ and the closing date for nominations is Sept 30, 2020.
