UNISEM Q2 NET PROFIT UP TO RM33.95 MLN
KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 3 -- Unisem (M) Bhd's net profit for the second quarter ended June 30, 2020 rose to RM33.95 million from RM14.45 million in the same quarter last year.
Similarly, revenue increased 10.3 per cent to RM310.08 million from RM281.12 million a year ago, according to the semiconductor devices manufacturer in a filing with Bursa Malaysia.
The improved performance was attributed to the higher sales volume achieved as well as appreciation of US dollar and ringgit exchange rates as compared to the prevailing rates a year ago.
On outlook, Unisem expects this year operating environment to be challenging as global consumption and consumer confidence remain volatile due to the current COVID-19 pandemic.
"We remain cautious and will continue with stringent cost control measures, exercise restrain on capital expenditure and to take safety measures vigilantly at our plants to protect the health and well-being of all our employees," it said.
The company declared a dividend of 2.0 sen per share for the quarter under review, which will be paid on Sept 3.
