OPCOM SECURES RM21.4 MLN CONTRACT FROM TM

KUALA LUMPUR, July 23 -- Opcom Holdings Bhd's 70 per cent-owned subsidiary, Opcom Cables Sdn Bhd, has secured a RM21.37 million contract from Telekom Malaysia Bhd (TM) for the manufacture, supply and delivery of optical fibre cables.

In a filing with Bursa Malaysia today, the company said the award was valid from Aug 1, 2020 until May 20, 2022, and expected to contribute positively towards the group's earnings and net assets for the period.

The fibre-optic cable manufacturer swung to a net loss of RM7.89 million for the financial year ended March 31, 2020, from a net profit of RM452,000.

Revenue dropped to RM44.46 million from RM74.58 million previously.

Shares of Opcom were down 1.5 sen or 3.75 per cent to 38 sen, with market capitalisation at RM62.08 million, as at today's close.
