BCORP SECURES CONTRACT TO DEVELOP LUXURY HOTEL, CONDOMINIUM IN JAPAN
KUALA LUMPUR, June 5 -- Berjaya Corporation Bhd (BCorp) has won a bid in partnership with two companies to develop a global luxury hotel and hotel condominium in the Nishi District, Yokohama, Japan.
In a filing with Bursa Malaysia today, BCorp said it will enter into a joint venture with Marubeni Corporation and Daiwa House Industry Co., Ltd to develop the luxury hotel and condominium, as well as an aquarium and retail outlet on a 22,188.34 sq metre site at 3-2, 6-chrome Minato Mirai, Nishi District.
The proposed project awarded by the City of Yokohama is expected to commence in October 2022 and complete in March 2026.
BCorp said it has already obtained an exclusivity via a Letter of Intent to bring in global luxury hotel brand Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts to manage the hotel.
“In addition, the restaurants and shops that are to be opened on the waterfront are considered very rare in the City of Yokohama,” it said.
Meanwhile, BCorp executive chairman Tan Sri Vincent Tan said BCorp anticipates the project, with the luxury class hotel and aquarium integrating the latest digital technology and real marine life, would bring further energy and prosperity to the City of Yokohama.
“I am sure that the prestigious Four Seasons branding and management, along with its strategic location in Yokohama will add value to the project,” he said.
