MITI IMPOSES ANTI-DUMPING DUTIES ON INDONESIA'S CELLULOSE FIBRE REINFORCED CEMENT FLAT

KUALA LUMPUR, March 25 --The government will be imposing definitive anti-dumping duties on cellulose reinforced cement flat and pattern sheet, excluding external roofing, from Indonesia.

The Ministry of International Trade and Industry (MITI) said the anti-dumping duties are set at 9.14 per cent for PT Etex Building Performance Indonesia and 108.1 per cent for others.

“The Royal Malaysian Customs Department will enforce the collection of anti-dumping duties on imports of the subject merchandise from Indonesia and this measure will be effective for five years from March 21 this year to March 20, 2025,” it said in a statement, today.

MITI said the imposition of anti-dumping duties is expected to address the issue of unfair trade practices.

On July 26 last year, the government initiated an anti-dumping investigation based on a petition filed by UAC Bhd, representing domestic producers of cellulose reinforced cement flat and pattern sheet, in accordance with the Countervailing and Anti-Dumping Duties Act 1993 and Countervailing and Anti-Dumping Duties Regulation 1994.

The petitioner alleged that subject merchandises originating or exported from Indonesia are being imported into Malaysia at a price lower than the selling price in Indonesia and causing material injury to the domestic industry in Malaysia producing a similar product.
